Collaboration to Improve Access to Care
Managed care organizations across the Commonwealth have the opportunity to form a Virginia E-Consult Consortium to increase access to care for patients in Medicaid. This consortium will be open to primary care providers, payers and other stakeholders interested in implementing electronic consult, or asynchronous telehealth between treating providers (PCPs) and consulting providers (specialists). The consortium can provide e-consult education, best practices, networking opportunities and technical assistance to providers and patient advocates.
Virginia E-Consult Consortium Objectives
- MCOs cover e-consult costs to make the service available to all providers and patients;
- Organizations collaborate to solve key issues and support program spread;
- Provider champions share the benefits and value proposition of e-consult to facilitate use; and
- Progress and outcomes are tracked and shared to sustain provider adoption.
Health Care Provider Benefits
