Collaborating to Improve Access to Care

The Virginia eConsult Consortium aims to improve access to specialty care for Medicaid beneficiaries.

The Consortium brings together Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs), providers, policymakers and patient advocates. Consortium members share a commitment to using technology to improve access and quality.

We provide education, guidance on best practices, technical assistance and networking opportunities to support the rollout of eConsult across the Commonwealth.

Using eConsult to Expand Access

"As a community health center serving many uninsured and underinsured patients, e-consults are a game changer. They allow our providers to connect with specialists for vital management insights without requiring patients to miss work, secure transportation, or arrange childcare. This innovation helps us break down barriers to care and ensures our underserved patients get the timely support they need."
