NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Safety Net Connect (SNC), a leading provider of advanced virtual care solutions, has been selected by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) to implement their cutting-edge eConsult platform for a statewide Medicaid implementation. “eConsult reduces barriers and expedites the delivery of high-quality care while enabling physicians to practice at the top of their scope,” shared Chris Cruttenden, President of Safety Net Connect. “Statewide adoption of eConsult is a significant step toward increasing equitable access for Medicaid members across Colorado.”

The eConsult platform, a proven technology for efficiently and consistently delivering high quality healthcare for underserved populations, will facilitate seamless electronic communication between Primary Care Medicaid Providers (PCMPs) and specialist providers throughout the state. By enabling collaboration in determining the most effective care plans, the platform promises a more convenient and satisfying experience for members. With over a decade of successful implementation for safety net Medicaid plans across rural and urban settings, SNC’s eConsult technology offers numerous advantages, including expedited access to specialty care, improved quality of referrals, and reduced costs.

How the Colorado HCPF eConsult platform will work:

Electronic consultations, or “eConsults”, are asynchronous (store and forward) clinical communications between a PCMP and a specialty provider. The PCMP first transmits a secure eConsult request to a specialty provider. The specialty provider will then provide electronic medical guidance that assists the PCMP in the diagnosis or management of the member’s health care needs. The eConsult can result in a referral for a face-to-face visit with a specialty provider when clinically appropriate. In these instances, referrals will be made to specialty providers who are proven to improve quality outcomes, add value, and reduce costs specific to the specialty care required. By implementing the eConsult platform, Colorado is taking a significant step towards enhancing healthcare equity and improving access for Medicaid members. Safety Net Connect’s expertise and technology will play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.
